For my Pops!
POSTED BY

This one is for Pops.

When I was a kid, I thought my dad was the strongest dude in the world. I saw him fight people at the store and beat the shit out of them. My dad is 6ft 1in. He is a lean dude but I guess it’s the old ahjuhshee power that he possesses. He laid a lot of people out, I was one of them when I ever fucked up. I was always in awe of the guy. How can a guy from Korea born in the 50’s be hitting jumpshots on people 10-20 years younger than him. He played in a neighborhood basketball league and he was schooling these grown ass men. A FOB from korea was killing these dudes. No one in the hood really fucked with my pops. Hence, they still live in the house I grew up in and have never left. No one really bothers my parents.

My dad came to the states in 1978. He worked all kinds of odd jobs. He worked at a fish market, gas station, and a handful of other jobs. He finally purchased a house and liquor store in East LA. Not a great decision but he really didn’t know better. My parents are the longest to survive in the area. No one would last more than 5 years. No one even thought about putting graffiti on the store. That is one thing my pops got from everyone, Respect.

My dad is the person to blame for my insane cockiness. Well I see it as confidence but a lot of people have said I am arrogant. Fuck them. You see I learned from an early age that there is nothing I can’t do if I really applied myself. My dad is the one that drilled that idea into my skull. He made me the competitive fucker that I am. That is why I am pretty confident in everything I embark on. Because he taught me to never give up and try my absolute best.

Dad if you are reading this you are to blame for my comedy career. I can’t give this shit up anymore. I have to give it everything I got first. Don’t worry, I WILL succeed.

Anyways, to the man that sacrificed everything for the family. You are the man that quit smoking cigarettes because of the family. You are the man that works like a refugee even though you don’t have to. You are the man that lives every day with that never give up mentality. I wish you a happy fathers day . You are truly my hero and hopefully one day I will be able to emulate you in terms of your perseverance and sacrifice.
