Nueva York (2/5-2/10) Part 2
POSTED BY

So this second part of the New York trip doesnt involve any standup shows of any kind. Instead, it involves a ton of eating and drinking. I have to give it up to nyc for the good food. So after the wonderful dinner at Rub BBQ, I hung out with my cousin Esther and her friends. First stop was Sidewalk Cafe.  We went to meet up more of her friends. Sidewalk Cafe has live music there on certain nights and I guess Saturday was one of those certain nights.  The people on stage was a band called Heath Street or something like that. Now Esther’s friend said that they were awesome and hence she wanted to check em out. As they started playing, I was thinking about punching people in the face. I dont know much about music but you gotta at least be in the caliber of Big Phony. These dudes were just not good. After a couple of drinks and 30 minutes of torture, I couldnt take it anymore and went outside. I guess Esther and her friends had the same sentiment because they bounced with me. I dont have any picture of this because well, I hate taking pictures. I guess its because I suck at it.

After the shitty hick music at Sidewalk Cafe, Esther and Company decided to go to a local watering hole called Forbidden City. Apparently the only thing Forbidden about this place was cute girls. For those that have never been to New York, let me say that yes there are a couple of decent looking people BUT on an average they are pretty busted. AND they dont put on makeup. The good thing about this is that you know what these girls look like when they just wake up. But sometimes, I am not in the mood for the “I Just Woke Up” face.

After Forbidden City, I met up with Richard and yes you guessed it, we went to get Hallal Food again.

I would like to stress that this is the best street food I have ever had in my life. I would eat this every day if I could. I wonder why no one sells this shit here in LA.  Anyways, we took the food back to his place. I asked him if there was a movie he can put in because I was kinda pored and drunk. Well, he put in a movie. He put in:

The movie is OK but to watch it with another dude over food just made me a tad bit uncomfortable. Dont get me wrong, I love Richard like a brother. I’d lay in traffic for him but this is more like laying in bed with him. But in my drunken state, I finished the movie and went to bed with one eye open. My real eyes not the stink one.

The next day, I had to move residence because Richard’s pops wanted to stay with him. Well good ole Richard got me a room at a hotel nearby. Thanks Richard and Huee for the room. I stayed at the Stanford Hotel in Ktown. The room is ok. All I needed was a bed, tv, and bathroom and they provided all of that.  However, there was an awkward moment when I checked in.  The room was under Richard’s name so he had to go with me. As we are checking in, the receptionist types on the computer and says “It says you guys have a king size bed. Would you like a room with 2 smaller beds?” Richard looks at me and says, “Naw one will be fine.” The receptionist looks at us and i could tell she was judging me.

Yes that is the king size bed where the magic happened. So after I checked in, I spent most of the day in my room because I was just beat from all the drinking and partying. These dudes in NYC dont fuck around when it comes to partying.

So Sunday night was a bit of a chill time. Nothing crazy was done because I wasnt in the mood to really start partying. I shot some pool and got my ass handed to me. This is sad because I have a damn pool table at home and Richard just hustled me like a chump.  I just headed home in defeat because I am a very competitive person and I sucked. Next time fucker, its your ass! I went to the hotel and took a shower and cried in the corner like a rape victim. Then I went to sleep. The bed was damn comfortable.

Monday was a good day. I got to hang out with my favorite cousin Esther. Sure, my other cousins will read this but there I said it. We met up for lunch at this small joint called Kati Rolls. Basically, its an indian burrito. (Dot Indian). It was damn good. You gotta get the Chicken and Potato rolls. They are delish.  For info check them out at http://www.thekatirollcompany.com/. Afterwards, Esther and I went to Magnolia’s. Yes, we eat A LOT! Magnolia’s is this bakery that is known for their cupcakes. But instead we decided to get Banana Pudding. That shit was aight! I would have liked it if it was more if it was frozen. I forgot my camera in my hotel room so there is not pictures of me kicking anorexia’s ass.

After all that food, we went to Barnes and Noble and got our nerd on. I was looking for books to read and she is into reading as well. See, I told you she is my favorite cousin. We have a lot of similar hobbies. She ended up buying a puzzle tho. Haha. That day I swear we walked a good 50 blocks. That is when I thought I would never be able to live in NYC. I havent walked 50 blocks in 2 months in LA and here I am walking 50 blocks in 5 hours. UGHHHH! My feet were kickin my ass.  I finally got back to the hotel to get ready to get some dinner. Richard and Jensen had a friend that ran a really good italian restaurant. trattoriadelarte

This place is known for their thin crust pizza and everything else I tried there was fantastic. As I am writing this post, I just realized how much I fucking ate in the 5 day trip. You guys are probably thinking I should have clogged arteries by now. Dont worry, I am extremely healthy.

Shout outs to all the people that made the NYC trip awesome. Richard most importantly for basically taking me to eat all that crazy shit and you took it in stride. Jensen and Royce for always being so hospitable. Esther for being my favorite cousin and always down to help me out. My homeboys, Huei and Phil for always finding time to kicking it with me. And all the new people I met like. Thanks for everything!
